'Curragh Kiondroghad' in Manx Gaelic or Onchan Community Wetlands in English, this site was previously a mill pond. Now natural succession has turned it into the green lungs of Onchan, a small haven for wildlife in this otherwise urban landscape.

About the reserve

Once a mill pond, this small site is only two minutes’ walk from the shopping centre in Onchan. A small area of open water is backed by curragh.

Management: the walkways are regularly maintained to allow visitors to enjoy the birdlife.
