25th Inter-Island Environment Meeting 2025

Collaboration for Greater Impact - celebrating 25 years of the Inter-Island Environment Meeting
IIEM25 will celebrate 25 years of the Inter-Island Environment Meeting bringing together environmentalists, conservationists, and environmentally-minded organisations and businesses from the UK Crown Dependencies and other British Islands and Ireland. The 25th IIEM is being held for the first time in the Isle of Man after being set up and hosted in the Channel Islands for 24 years. The theme for IIEM25 is Collaboration for Greater Impact.
IIEM25 will be hosted over three days at the Villa Marina in Douglas. The traditional IIEM will take place on the first two days, with a series of presentations from the delegates on the environmental work and issues in their islands, as well as an afternoon of field trips around the island. We are then holding a third extra day, focused on how environmental organisations can collaborate and build partnerships with corporate businesses, to benefit biodiversity, reduce climate change, and enable businesses to engage their staff in environmental issues, both locally and globally. See the outline schedule below.
The whole event will also have a special 25th-anniversary flavour!
Wednesday 17th September: Talks, workshops, Q&A sessions on conservation and environmental topics during the day. The official IIEM25 celebration event will then take place in the evening at Government House, hosted by the Lieutenant Governor for the Isle of Man, Sir John and Lady Lorimer.
Thursday 18th September: Morning talks and Q&A sessions followed by a choice of afternoon field trips to see and experience a range of wonderful landscapes, habitats, and environmental projects across the Isle of Man UNESCO Biosphere.
Friday 19th September: Focused on building corporate collaborations and partnerships, to collectively deliver global and local biodiversity and climate targets. The day will include keynote talks from Jonathan Andrews from Remarkable Partnerships (www.remarkablepartnerships.com), and leaders from businesses in the Crown Dependencies who are driving the sustainability and green financing agenda. The morning will be an opportunity for environmental organisations to present on your important work streams, and develop their corporate connections and support. In the afternoon, there will be more in-depth facilitated discussions including environmentalists and businesses in workshops to develop collaboration ideas.
We are inviting people to submit abstracts to present at IIEM25. There are three options:
1. 15-minute presentation (accompanied by slides) on a project or aspect of your work. To be part of Wednesday or Thursday.
2. A1 or A2 poster on a project or aspect of your work or celebrating the 25th anniversary of IIEM. To be on display throughout the three days.
3. 5-minute (10 x 30-second slide) presentation on a project you want to showcase to businesses as a collaboration opportunity. To be given on Friday morning.
Please submit your abstract before 31st May 2025. Any queries are to be directed to: enquiries@mwt.im
Note: We are aware that people traveling to the Isle of Man may want confirmation that their presentation has been accepted before booking travel and accommodation. We are particularly keen that people from other islands (especially the Channel Islands who have hosted IIEM for 24 years) attend IIEM25, so please contact us at the email above and we will confirm quickly if your abstract has been accepted.
