Week 2 - What does Nature Need?

Food, water, shelter, connection. Our wild friends aren’t so different from us in what they need to thrive.

This week, we start to build a picture of how welcome wildlife is in the outside spaces in your life and look at simple actions you can take to create more wildlife friendly areas. Remember, Team Wilder Project Officer Lucy will be available throughout the course if you have any questions or would like to talk about a wildlife project you are considering.

Remember to join our Facebook group, it's a great way to connect with the 750 other people taking part in this series, who love wildlife too.

Your task this week is to have a go at completing our 'How wild is your land?' survey. It's all about building a picture of how much of our island is protected for wildlife and is a great tool for breaking down what wildlife needs.

Check out our short video presentation covering the basics of welcoming wildlife into our outside spaces.

Here's a short activity that you can do when out and about to give a different perspective on what nature needs. This is a great one to do with children too, or to just unleash your inner child and have a go on your own!

Through the eyes of animals activity

Are you ready to make friends with molluscs? As promised: here's how!

There's lots of free activity sheets here. Why not choose one to try this spring? You could match an activity that will relate to the sense you preferred using in last week's nature connection activity. Great for wildlife AND good for you.
