About the reserve

This small site lies in a shallow valley on a watershed and consequently is very wet.  Much of the reserve is a mosaic of marshy grassland, dominated by rushes or tussock-forming purple moor grass with marsh cinquefoil, marsh thistle, devil's bit scabious, greater bird’s-foot trefoil and tufted vetch: and curragh. The curragh is dominated by grey and eared willow but osier is also present.  The remainder of the site is a wet meadow hosting a wonderful display of orchids in June.

Management:  The meadow is cut for hay whilst open areas on the bulk of the site are maintained by managing the spread of scrub.
