Manx Wildlife Week - Wildlife Health, Disease Monitoring and Pathology of Wallabies on the Isle of Man
Event details
About the event
Manx Wildlife Trust’s survey, carried out in conjunction with the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture (DEFA), estimated the population of Red-necked Wallabies in the Ballaugh Curragh to be close to 1000. The department is now looking at the best ways to assess the health of the wallaby population, which will go some way into evaluating the impact on the local environment and help determine whether any changes in management are necessary.
Dr Arno Wuenschmann’s findings, that he will share with us in this fascinating talk, has some insights that will contribute to this assessment. The presentation will include images of an animal autopsy.
Ticket entry is free, but a donation is welcome.
Parking: On-street parking is available near the iMuseum, which is next to Kingswood Honda. There is also parking in the Manx Museum carpark or in Chester Street carpark. The iMuseum has step free access, accessible facilities and there is a disabled parking space outside the entrance and in the Manx Museum carpark.
