Community Gardening Party!
Event details
About the event
Garey Yn Ellan Ain (or Our Island Garden) can be found on Station Road in St Johns, opposite St Johns School. The garden was commissioned by the Isle of Man Government in 2018 as part of the celebrations marking the designation of the Isle of Man as a UNESCO Biosphere, the only whole nation biosphere.
The garden was designed and constructed as a twelve month temporary garden for the 2018 Year of Our Island celebration. It has however become a well-loved local open space and IOM Government listened to pleas for its retention.
The garden is now managed by volunteers as well as the IOM Probation Services. Any help is greatly appreciated, with many hands making light work! No gardening experience is necessary we just appreciate having help and introducing more people to the garden.
Tools will be provided as well as tea, coffee and cake! The session is weather dependant so please keep an eye on the Garey yn Ellan Ain Facebook page.
Garey Yn Ellan Ain, is being supported through Manx Wildlife Trust's #TeamWilder project. Team Wilder is all about championing community led projects, with our Community Ranger Hannah, offering support where wanted. With support from Lloyds Bank International, we're able to work with people all over the Island
