State of Nature 2024 - Flowering Plants
Plant and tree species cover the entire Island, from the uplands to the grassland meadows and wetlands of our lowland areas.
Current data comprises all vascular plants (eg. trees & flowering plants) and non-vascular plants (eg. mosses & liverworts). Vascular plants are most frequently used as indicators of habitat health.
In 2022, a Plants of Conservation Concern document was produced, categorising all native Manx flora.
Of the 500 species recorded:
41 % were found to be of conservation concern ()
45 species were found to be locally extinct ()
78 were placed on the red list of greatest concern ()
84 were placed on the amber list of moderate concern ()
