Your class will become minibeast detectives as they go on a bug hunt and learn to classify invertebrates by different characteristics.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the session, students should be able to:
- Identify common invertebrates found in the Isle of Man.
- Recall key characteristics of common invertebrates.
- Understand what is meant by species classification.
- Recognise the importance of the tiniest creatures as a part of our whole ecosystem.
Session Outline:
- Minibeast Identification: Discuss the different characteristics of common invertebrates (minibeasts) we find in the Isle of Man.
- Species Classification: Learn the basics of species classification or in other words how we group different species into categories based on their common traits.
- Minibeast Hunt: Become Nature Detectives as we look for different invertebrates, identify them, and classify them into groups.
