We have many fabulous beaches to enjoy around the Isle of Man. Its a great opportunity to get out and connect with Manx nature, looking in rock pools, watching sea birds and spotting fish and seals whilst paddling in the bay. Did you know every time we go for a swim we run the risk of physically disturbing wildlife and habitats or unwittingly introducing chemicals into the water from suncream, shampoo and soap?
Here are some ways to help reduce our impact on sea life:
Ocean friendly suncream: Suncream that contain oxybenzon and octinoxate are not ocean friendly, they can cause reproductive problems with crustacean species and coral reefs. You can find ocean friendly suncream, just make sure you check the ingredients on the back!
To protect species whilst enjoying the coast follow the wildlife code of conduct for on land and in water:
