Manx Wildlife Trust (MWT) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated person to work closely with our Head of Conservation & Land, to spearhead our field delivery of key on-farm elements of the Isle of Man Government’s Agri-Environment Scheme (AES), working closely and collaboratively with farmers, agricultural businesses, industry representatives and Government. MWT are the largest conservation charity in the Isle of Man, in our 51st year, with a team of friendly, passionate, environmentally minded, dynamic, and supportive people.

The successful candidate has the wonderful opportunity to steer the delivery of our whole-nation Agri-Environment Scheme. You will work closely with our valued Manx farming industry: 340 farms covering 40,000ha; some 75 percent of our Island nation, a UNESCO Biosphere. Our work with our proud farmers represents MWT’s greatest opportunity for landscape-scale conservation and enhancement. This role is key for us to maximise this important opportunity.

The role necessitates the post holder to work closely and collaboratively not just with our farmers, but also with MWT colleagues, key partners and stakeholders, other conservation organisations, including the wider Wildlife Trusts federation. This is a key role in terms of delivering our mission to ‘protect and enhance our environment, create more spaces for wildlife, and inspire people to act for nature.’

MWT are seeking a qualified and experienced ecologist/conservationist/agronomist/adviser or land manager, who is personable, organised, visionary, and has excellent project delivery skills. The ideal candidate will be able to use their own initiative and be a key part of our MWT conservation team.

This is full-time (37.5 hours/week) post. In addition to your salary, you will receive a 5% pension contribution, and are entitled to 38 days annual leave, including bank holidays. MWT operate a staff appraisal and development scheme.
