Job reference: Trustee2025

We're looking for new Trustees to join us to help drive the delivery of our vision of “the Isle of Man’s land and waters rich in wildlife, where nature matters to all” and our mission, “to protect and enhance our environment, create more spaces for wildlife, and inspire people to act for nature”.

Our new Trustees will input strategically into our organisation, to help us to achieve even more impact.  Your input and influence will support our Team of staff and volunteers, and champion our work, helping to make a positive difference to the future of nature and the environment in the IOM and the wider British Isles.

We want to hear from anyone who believes they have time and skills to offer us, but we are especially keen to hear from people with:

  • Experience or expertise in conservation ecology – terrestrial and/or marine
  • An accountancy or finance background
  • Experience in campaigning and advocacy

In our recruitment we are also keen to find individuals who would be willing and able to take on the role of Secretary.

We are keen that the majority of our Trustees are based in the IOM, however, we are also eager to hear from people across the British Isles who would be interested in joining us. These may be Manx people now based elsewhere, or ecologists who have a particular interest in the IOM/Irish Sea. Trustees appointed who are not based in the IOM would be required to join most meetings via an on-line platform and potentially one meeting per year in person. All Trustee roles are unpaid.

We openly acknowledge that our current Board of Trustees is not as diverse as we would like it to be. We want our Trustees to better reflect the Manx communities in which work and are committed to creating a board which is more inclusive of diverse identities, backgrounds, skills and experience.

Whist we would encourage anyone who is interested to consider becoming a Trustee to apply, we particularly encourage applications from those who are currently underrepresented on our board, including (but not limited to) women, people from minority ethnic backgrounds, people with disabilities and those under 25 or even under 35 years old. We are committed to providing the right support to enable support every Trustee on our board to fulfil their role and have a rewarding experience as a Trustee.

Please refer to the Trustee Role Descriptor linked here for full details of the role and here for the Role Descriptor of the Secretary.

Our Chair, Simon Cain, would be delighted to discuss and/or answer any questions about the role with potential applicants. Email

Applications, in the form of a CV and letter highlighting your motivations and relevant experience for the role of a Trustee, must be sent to Sophie Pearce, Secretary, Manx Wildlife Trust. Email: companysecretary@mwt.im

The closing date for Applications is midnight 28th February 2025.
