About the event

The Isle of Man invertebrate group is running a bug hunt at Cregneash. As part of the Cregneash visitor experience, this will be a chance to take a closer look at some of the little things that run the planet, the insects, spiders, millipedes, centipedes and woodlice that live in an around the village and Church Farm. All ages welcome.

We will be based in the education room, Quirk’s Croft, in Cregneash from 1-4pm, where visitors can meet members of the group for short, guided forays around the site and we can look through microscopes at some of the creatures we find. Parking is available in the old quarry at the top of the village. Stout footwear advised for walking along the farm trail, which is not suitable for wheelchair or pushchair access, but there are plenty of places to look for invertebrates around the village and gardens on level surfaces.

Dogs are allowed on the lead (subject to change if lambing in progress). Bug hunting equipment will be on loan for the bug hunt. It’s advised to wear old clothing as there may be a bit of mud involved. In case of bad weather, the outdoor bug hunt will be cancelled but the indoor microscopes will still be available. There is an accessible toilet and baby changing facility attached to Quirk’s Croft.

Drop-in session any time between 13:00 – 16:00, no need to book
